| Fiber optics
Fiber optic is a new technology associated with transmission of data as light pulses along a glass fiber. Optical fiber carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is in general not subject to electromagnetic interference and the need to retransmit signals. The bandwidth for optic fiber goes from 100Mbps to 10Gbps, this depends on the accessories used on the line. Fiber optic cables are much thinner and lighter than metal wires and carry greater capacities.
